Take me out to the shows of Zeros or else the 20 best concerts of foreign groups - musicians, in Greece in the 00s either as individual concerts or in a festival.
As much as we think the shows of REM, Radiohead, Morrissey and other musicians with history in past decades, have been exceptional, we have chosen as the top concert Zeros: the appearance of the band of the decade, the Franz Ferdinand at the Rose, in November 2004.
We have chosen the top 20 among the many concerts that stand out from the 00s through internal vote. As you can see in the list below, only 4 out of 20 (add to those Pearl Jam, Roger Waters, Metallica, AC/DC etc.) are bands of Zeros. All the rest have their own story from the 80s or 90s. What does that tell us? Only the obvious, which nag about every year. Companies avoid bringing new musicians, for fear that we won't support these concerts. They have a point, to a degree of course.
Before I present the list of our favorite shows, it is useful to mention the LIVE big disappointments of the decade. So maybe Depeche Mode and Rockwave gave us quite a disappointment last year, but by far the biggest disappointment - in my humble opinion - was stopping the concert of White Stripes at the Beach Volley court, at Faliro. If continued that concert had started , it may have been at the top of our list. Of course, i don't need to tell you that for one of the top bands of the Zeros, the crowd found that night in Faliro was meager compared to the response the band has had around the world.
One would hope for the '10s: Not to complain again for the same reason and to be missing from the corresponding text the two paragraphs above ...
