Richard Hawley and... his streets

We wonder what are we to expect from Richard Hawley next Friday and Saturday in Thessaloniki and Athens, respectively, and what songs come to mind?

There are some concerts that we do not expect to dance. What we want is the journey on melody lane, "emitting" emotions and the chills from a sweet, romantic voice. Many of you may think that in concerts you feel intense emotions when there is intensity in every song. However, the intensity can be brought by simple, poignant melodies.

I wonder, can the 43-year-old Briton from Sheffield with the name: Richard Hawley create those feelings?

In two to three days we will know more ...

What key elements are good to know?

  • In 1991, Hawley made an audition to become a guitarist in the live band of Morrissey, but was rejected because he sang "One Night" by Elvis Presley during the audition.
  • In the 90s he was a member of the British band Longpigs .
  • He was guitarist for Pulp!
  • impressed by a demo song, Jarvis Cocker (former singer of Pulp) and Steve Mackey (former bassist of Pulp ) led Hawley to a studio to write his first solo album with his name in 2000.
  • From 2000 onwards, Richard Hawley released 5 albums: Late Night Final (Setanta) -2001, Lowedges (Setanta) - 2003, Coles Corner (Mute) - 2005, Lady's Bridge (Mute) - 2007, Truelove's Gutter (Mute) - 2009.
  • NME described Lowedges as  inone of the best albums of 2003 and Virgin Radio this album grabbed the top vote for the best of the year.
  • "Coles Corner" was the first album on Mute, a subsidiary of EMI. In the name of the album once again his love for Sheffield becomes obvious, as Coles Courner is a place for couples and certainly a place for flirting (You know kamaki ...)
  • Two years later, "Lady's Bridge" (the center of Sheffield) was probably the greatest success. The album reached No. 6 in the UK Chart.
  • In January 2008, Richard Hawley took his first Brit Award in the category : Best British Male Performer. Not a little thing!

Which songs stand out and I would like to hear:

  • from Late Night Final (2002):" Baby, You're My Light "
  • from Coles Corner (2005): " The Ocean ", " Coles Corner "
  • from Lady's Bridge (2007): " Tonight the Streets Are Ours "," Serious "," Valentine "
  • by Truelove's Gutter (2009): " Open up your door "
Below, we have created a list of most ofby the singles of Richard Hawley. We prepare to be ready Friday (Radio City) and Saturday (Fuzz).
