The tenth studio album by the "Modfather" or "Cappuccino kid" Paul Weller αποτελεί την κυκλοφορία του Μαΐου για το Music is my Radar. The two first songs to stand out from the album are the homonym uplifting Wake up the nation and No tears to cry hat takes us back to the days of Style Council. Also, clearly standing out are 7 & 3 is the striker’s name featuring Kevin Shields from My Bloody Valentine, Andromeda and the 2-minute speedy rock’n’roll Moonshine and Fast car slow traffic, in which Paul co-operates after many years with Bruce Foxton, ex Jam bassist. The great London band would sound somehow like this in 2010.

Also, I really enjoyed the fourth album by Sharon Jones & the Dap - Kings from Brooklyn entitled I learned the hard way which is of course proposed to the lovers of soul-funk of the 70s. Besides the homonym song, be sure to discover Better things to do, reminiscent of Spill the wine by the War, αas well as Money and The reason. In the exceptional Mama don't like my man Sharon sounds like being accompanied by some 60s girl group!

The second album by the Foals and our fellow citizen  Yannis Philippakis entitled Total life forever goes one step beyond their debut Antidotes. I mostly enjoyed Blue blood, the homonym song that borrows lyrics from the 90s indie classic Into your arms by the Lemonheads, After glow, Alabaster and of course the first single of the album Spanish Sahara. Read more about the album here.

The National released perhaps their easiest album and I believe High Violet will appear in most lists with the best albums of 2010, as it already has drawn interest. In the fifth release by the band, my favorites are Terrible love, Bloodbuzz ohio and  Conversation 16 that lacks nothing to become a hit to be aired everywhere. There are also some rumors for a future show in Athens. We keep our fingers crossed!

LCD Soundsystem has been one of the critics' favorite albums in the past few years. With their first two releases they have met great success, maybe even greater than they deserve, without trying to diminish the electro - punk project by James Murphy. From the very good This is happening I selected Drunk girls, one of 2010 singles and video clips, as well as You wanted a hit, One touch and All I want.

The duet of She and Him was introduced to us in 2008 with their debut Volume 1, while this year they released Volume 2. They are comprised of the adorable actress Zooey Deschanel and M Ward, frontman of Monsters of folk. Their sound belongs to the wide folk area,  with a lot of 50-60s elements, especially in vocals, while we could say they are reminiscent of the initial compositions by our beloved Belle and Sebastian. I have selected Thieves, Don’t look back and Along without you now.

Dum dum girls are a new Sub pop band, they are comprised of four women, they come from Los Angeles, they have loud garage punk guitars, vocals that bring to mind the pop by the Blondie and Metric, but most of all they have the huge hype to accompany them. Besides the single Jail la la, worth listening are the top It only takes one night as well as Oh mein me and I will be.

The 28th album by the Fall and their first one in Domino is a fact and is entitled Your future our clutter. It is one of their best in the last years, but I will let Ody tell you more about the album  here and some info about this great  Manchester band here. Ypu have to listen to O.F.Y.C. Showcase, Cowboy George, Y.F.O.C. Slippy floor and Chino.

Electric Litany is a multi-national band comprising of Alexandros Miaris from Corfu, Richard Simic from Devon and Duane Petrovich from Texas. My personal favorites from How to be a child and win the war are the powerful The roses came, The Dunes that Radiohead fans will enjoy, but mostly the slow A dream worth dreaming. Read more here.
