Halias nagging music hero not guitar hero

The curious title refers to the heroes we have (and not  television series). How we choose and are let down. And don't think that is a phenomenon of our time, regardless what the  tv says. No this trick is old.

The curious title refers to the heroes we have (and not  television series). How we choose and are let down. And don't think that is a phenomenon of our time, regardless what the  tv says. No this trick is old.

Actually its ancient. We all have our heroes . Only, in the last century arose a new kind of hero. Okay, choir was admired in church but that's  different from how we see musicians today. We shape them into what we want them to be. And if somehow something changed and we didn't agree with them: burn them .

No, it's not funny . We see musicians (like actors)  as something beyond reality. Since the Beatles fans gathered in their thousands to hear the songs and enter the belief that we are served by the image makers and what we think the lyrics represent. We raise them to levels previously reserved for gods and demigods . Support them, hear them and cherish them with great passion.

Alas, however, if something from the truth does not match what we want . If we learn something we don't like. Then, as if only the extremes can exist , hate them madly and with such passion. They destroyed our vision of the world and we're supposed to forget? No, we'll treat them in the worst way. And the bad news is that the reaction is rarely proportionate to the crime.

OK there are some times that the rage is justified although the change is rapid. Look at just how quickly Michael Jackson went from the most successful artist of the 80s to  complete contemptible of the 90s. But the change both in appearance and behavior (with crazy trials and unbelievable marriages), I admit, caused it. Eventually even enormous success can not protect you from wrath.

But more often than not the reaction is unjustified , incredibly abrupt and due to the dissolution of our illusion rather than the artist. Just remember how George Michael was disowned -overnight- by the same macho guys who considered him a god in the 80 , when they learned that of his homosexuality.

And its well enough to renounce someone. At least they leave him alone. If, however, they hate then it sucks. Either talking about someone  disgracefully, or have the wrong relationship, or  speak against any political views or simply dissolve a group, things may come to tragic ends . The case of John Lennon (who was murdered by a fan of the Beatles with psychological problems) shows that it isn't a recent phenomenon. The strife between artists certainly worsens things (which has become a form of art among rap musicians). The phenomenon, unlike the theories that we are served is not new.

Ultimately I continue to believe that we require and will continue to have heroes many years after I'll be dust. Besides, I'ld like to be a member of  Aerosmith (try to explain that statement to the young), but I'ld rather that extreme reactions were reduced. I want to much? That's why I leave the Stones to say it better.

For the quiz : Naturally dottore (doctor) is the currently best (and probably all time) rider in MotoGP. The shocking and terrible 30 year old Valentino Rossi with 8 World Championships: 1 to 125 cc and 1 to 250 cc (both in the second year in the class) and 6 in the top category, from the second year and then, within 11 years. In the photo has a helmet with his face on it.
