Gorillaz in the spirit of Christmas have their new album for free in their official website on Christmas Day.
Damon Albarn plans to release the new album by Gorillaz via advent calendar (calendar counting the days until Christmas and has a gift for each day) that is available on their official website. Through advent calendar the Gorillaz distribute "electronic gifts" from the beginning of December.
As Albarn said on NME magazine "I've made it on an iPad – I hope I'll be making the first record on an iPad,I fell in love with my iPad as soon as I got it, so I've made a completely different kind of record."
His partner Albarn and the member of Gorillaz, Jamie Hewlett told the Australian newspaper Perth Now : "On Christmas eve will be released the video from a song of the album. On Christmas Day Gorillaz fans can download for free the entire new album".
Last month Albarn told NME that the album was recorded during the tour and he wanted it to be released before Christmas.
"I wanted to be sure that the album would be released at the end of the tour so that no one can say that I messed with it. If we delay the release until New Year some will have that opportunity. So the album is released now".
