This is a relatively new band (they have been active since 2006) and they come from the Greeks of Australia, in Melbourne. Temper Trap released the same name EP in 2006 and this year their debut album "Conditions".
The music is atmospheric, with distinct rock guitars and sweet vocals. I would say that they mostly remind me of the Doves, without being able to say that they have not something special, something their own. The singer and guitarist Dougy Mandagi said that the main influences of the band while they were recording their album consisted of Radiohead, Prince, Massive Attack and U2.
"Conditions" is one of the most interesting albums I've heard lately. In it, for me, stand out the excellent uplifting (!!!), and romantic "Fools", the singles "Sweet Disposition" & "Fader", and "Love Lost", "Rest" that open the album.
BBC included them in its list of the 15 best new sounds of the season. Last August they played at Leeds & Reading Festival. Currently they're performing in concerts in Britain and if you want to see them you can very easily find a cheap airline ticket to get there.
