It is an ensemble much loved in Greece. Indeed, it may have more friends in Greece, than in its homeland England. Puressence return discography with a Best of Collection and three new songs.

We will be able to look closely at these three and many of the previous tracks  in concerts by the end of the month and then, when Puressence will play in Athens, Thessaloniki and other country towns (as Craig Walker did something similar recently).

For more details, read the press release below:

My new album of our beloved Puressence, "Sharpen Up The Knives", was released only in the Metropolis shops and the www.townsend - records.co.uk! This is a collection containing the best moments from 1995, when they first met, until today, which "today" is represented with three new songs!

The ensemble of Puressence has marked Greek audiences and is also marked by Greece over the years! It's one of those very special relations which characterize the Greeks as listeners. Their hits are heard in every bar in every dj set and radio of this style in our country. It is natural, then, that it's a news story the release of a collection of all these hits!

Sharpen Up The Knives contains songs which everyone loved since I Suppose 1995 to India and It Doesn't Matter Anymore and their four top 50 singles, How Does It Feel, This Feeling, All I Want and Walking Dead and further more you will find a new recording of the Traffic Jam In Memory Lane and three new songs, the new single, Raise Me To The Ground, Our Numbers Oracle - a comeback in the early years of the band - and Che of Judie Collins with the  piano and the voice of James, which was included in the Tribute album of the great singer. James Mudriczki was, indeed, the only non-American in the collection, next to Leonard Cohen, the Chrissie Hynde and Dolly Parton.

Sharpen Up The Knives is nothing but a stop to regroup, for Puressence a "honing" before starting again on their way to the future! A promise of a bright future if anyone takes into account that the band is preparing a new album that began recording in January and if we add the fact that after so many years there finally appear to captivate the British press and the London market. These two elements were missing so far from the achievements of Puressence since the Underground Press always wrote flattering remarks, in Scotland, the Midlands, the South of England they had sold out shows, but London ... stood indifferent and NME and similar overground press showed the same British snobbishness shown to James and many other ...

In response to what is happening in discography today,
Puressence took action and got the rights (for their first three albums) from Island so that they would be masters of their own work! So since you can no longer find these albums in stores, your only connection with the past of the band is Sharpen Up The Knives ", a release directly from Puressence.

An interesting story about the Sharpen Up The Knives is on the cover, as it depicts a beautiful face with bright look and beautiful eyes. This is an Athenian whom the Puressence saw randomly on the city streets and spontaneously asked to pose for their cover! After the first (big) surprise, the girl said without fear "yes". Semantics have their meaning: the girl was accompanied when they saw her and Puressence made the proposal first to the boy who accompanied her!

These days Puressence tour Britain and prepare for the biggest headline show of their carrier, on November 14th in the huge Apollo in Manchester!

Then, in late November, they will travel to Greece playing for the first time all these years indoors, besides Athens or Thessaloniki! The following days will be officially announced all the cities and dates!
