A pretty good gig was just announced by Didi Music. The special voice of System of a Down, Serj Tankian will appear in the Theatre Terra Vibe in the 17th of August with an eight-member classical orchestra.
The ticket is quite good, I must say (25 euros), but I wonder if the choice of the date will yield respectively. Then again one could certainly say that this time last year Faith no More came and made one of the most successful concerts of the summer. Moreover, Serj has a public in both rockers and metal lovers (ie, the public that is devoted to concerts).
The only sure thing is that with the use of small, but warmer Theater Terra Vibe, Didi has opened over the range of artists who may come.
All I hope is there will be no rain like it rains at this time in Athens .. .
Serj Tankian , born in Lebanon, of Armenian parents who immigrated to America at an early age. After completion of his studies at the university in 1995 with three friends from the Armenian-American community, created the System Of A Down. With music influenced by alternative rock, to heavy metal, to jazz and traditional music of Armenia in 1998 released their first album and immediately a great success. Songs like "Sugar" and "Spiders", stand out and the group is popular for the imposing voice of Serj, the unique sound and political lyrics of their songs.
In 2001, they released " Toxicity " which is considered the nemesis of the American dream. From the album stood out "Chop Suey!", Which was nominated for a Grammy, although criticized by the U.S. media because of the "politicized" lyrics. Followed by releases of "Steal This Album" in 2002 and the double album " Mezmerize" / "Hypnotize " was released in two parts: the first part of May 2005 and the second a few months later, having managed both to reach the peaks of the American Billboard. A year later, in 2006, System of A Down , at the height of their career and having sold over 16 million albums, they decide to have a break in the joint music course, saying that they will eventually join.
Serj Tankian , a multi-faceted personality, published Cool Gardens, poetry on social empathy. He never forgot his roots and released in 2002, the Turkish-Armenian avant-garde music, Arto Tunçboyacıyan, the "Serart". He collaborated with many artists including Tool and Deftones, the Wu Tang Clan & The Notorious BIG
Along with the Tom Morello , guitarist of Rage Against the Machine, founded the nonprofit organization Axis of Justice, which aims to bring together musicians and music lovers who are fighting for social justice.
