To celebrate the release of their new album, Velociraptor, Kasabian talked to the radio producer for BBC 5 about their love for music, their inspiration, their drugs and rock and roll.
Tom and Serge, friends since eleven years old when they met playing football, still go together to interviews to promote their new album. Serge characterized it as pop, compared with the previous and more melodic and has conservative music sounds. Tom said that he wanted a pop album and is excited about the final result.
Without hiding their ambition and very little modesty, they stated that they love to hear their music and especially on the radio, because then they feel associated with the public. Tom revealed that while he has a large music collection at home, he continues to listen to their albums and wondered if it is fair to love himself so much!
Composition of the song is made with the thought of filled and huge music spaces. They fully accept the musical label of a psychedelic band and for the first time show their soft side with the love ballad Goodbye Kiss, speaking about nuggets of maturity and inspiration from the music of the '50s. Serge also said he's a proud dad and for the sake of the baby he stopped using drugs. The result was that Velociraptor is his first sober composition.
While enjoying the present, they never stop dreaming of the future. Serge wants to contribute to the elimination of all types of garbage like X-factor from the music conscience of the public and energetically restore rock and psychedelia.His guitarist's dream is to one day be able to play the melody Money For Nothing by Dire Straights, even if it takes five years training to succeed.
