Nothing is new, of course, in this record of Jack Penate . But everything sounds so fresh it is like listening to his music for the first time. For me it is the best album of 2009, at least so far.
It contains 9 songs, but I really long to hear the whole album, listen to it over and over again, all hours of the day (and especially the night), brings my mood up, makes me see things in a new perspective. After all you do not need such so many novelties or experimentation or name what you will (see Animal Collective), to deliver a truly exceptional album. Just need nice, melodic songs, good humor and of course the great voice of Jack.
Ah... and of course the orchestration and production, which links the British indie music with the Brazilian Tropicalia , dance music to the British soul (and many others). The album is a continuous party, where in the chorus there is a melodic doom and the 2nd vocals are there to puncture your mind.
Like I said there are no weak points, but easily distinguish Tonight's Today , Every Glance , Be The One and Body Down .
I think need not to say more about Everything Is New, just hope you're lucky enough to listen to it.
Believe me, we'll have fun.
