Lists of albums and songs that we form for the first semester of 2011 do not certainly have the prestige of the Lists of December. They give, though, a first "taste". The album of PJ Harvey so far, stands out among other albums. The English singer made the difference and released a masterful album, which ranks first in voting among the authors of Mix Grill by a large distance to the second.
The "new" PJ Harvey or Kate Bush, the British Anna Calvi released the debut of this year (so far) and managed to enchant us with the ups and downs of her voice. The Vaccines followed with another very strong debut album, which was accompanied by plenty of hype from the British press (rightly in our opinion).
The Arctic Monkeys can be censored in Canada for the title of their album, but proved once again that they know well how to create remarkable albums and that Alex Turner remains one of the greatest music talents. The Radiohead definitely stood in the way they announced the release and generally promoted the "The King of Limbs" (Newspaper album, announcement a few days before the release, possibly secret gigs etc). The album, however, is worthwhile, even though sounds different to their sound of the early '90.
The first single called" Lotus Flower " for us is the best song of 2011 (so far) and very close to it is "I Follow Rivers" of Lykke Li and "The Words That Maketh Murder" of PJ Harvey.
