In 1920 the Nobel Prize is awarded to the strongly influentuial and having lots of imitators, Norwegian author Knut Hamsun, also called father of modern literature, with a particular reference to his piece Growth of the Soil. In the next year, the French writer, poet and journalist Anatole France (real surname Thibault) is honored. A real intellect and a typical representative of the French culture in his time, he focused on the French revolution. An impressive detail, considering his brilliant spirit, is that he was born with a rare anatomic deficiency: the size of his brain only equaled 2/3 of the normal size...
