R.I.P. Jay Reatard and Teddy Pendergrass

Jay Reatard the garage rocker from Memphis passed away at  29 years of age, of unknown cause.

Although young Reatard leaves behind many records as a member of The Reatards and of Lost Sounds and as a solo artist. His last album 'Watch Me Fall' was released last year by Matador .

The statement by Matador: "We are devastated by the death of Jimmy Lee Lindsey Jr., aka Jay Reatard. Jay was as full of life as anyone we've ever met, and responsible for so many memorable moments as a person and artist. We're honored to have known and worked with him, and we will miss him terribly."

Condolences for the death of Jay Reatard were expressed by Pixies through their page in facebook and Beck uploaded in his website his version of Reatard's 'Gamma Ray'.

Also yesterday, died of cancer the singer of soul Teddy Pendergrass , at age 59.

Teddy Pendergrass was the singer for Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes followed by a solo career since 1976 and had made hits with songs like 'If You Don't Know Me By Now' (with Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes) and 'I Don't Love You Anymore'.
