Malcolm Robert Andrew McLaren died yesterday at just 64 years old!

What should you know about Malcolm McLaren?

- Born in North London.

- Died at 64 in Switzerland, from a rare form of cancer, that he battled since last October 2009. Even though he knew about his illness, he chose not to make known to the public.

- He was manager of the Sex Pistols and helped greatly to spread the music of the band. Since 1975, he took on Strand, who would soon be renamed "Sex Pistols". Together with his assistant Bernie Rhodes, he discovered John Lydon or otherwise Johnny Rotten, singer of the Pistols.

- A special idea of his managed to generate publicity for the band. What he did was: On Queen Elizabeth's week, Sex Pistols released "God Save the Queen". So, they rented a boat and as they were in Thames, they played the song live next to the House of Parliament! As you can guess, police arrested them, but McLaren was successful in getting what he wanted! For the band to be known.

- Relationships  with the Sex Pistols were explosive. Indeed, in 1987 he lost a
legal battle with John Lydon, on the rights of the music of Pistols.

- In 1972 he met the New York Dolls, and became their manager and designed for them the clothing they wore in their concerts.

- He had a clothes store in London, originally named "Let it Rock" and then named "SEX", known to all fans of punk.

- He had a solo career and even released 16 studio albums from 1983 until last year.

- The first solo album "Duck Rock", in 1983 was one of the first records that presented hip-hop to a mass audience in Britain.
