AYO Billie-Eve

"A must-listen for everyone,
a heart warning record for the times we live in"
Libération, France

"It all happened so fast! 6 years ago no one knew me", said Ayo when asked for a couple of words for her new album, Billie-Eve .

"I do not have much to say. I write songs. When I feel ready, when I have enough material, I go in the studio. Anyway I wanted to record this album in New York. I chose Sear Sound because it is comfortable and has good energy. I wanted a tight group, back to the basics. Orchestrated the songs, and chose the musicians: Craig Ross (David Bowie's bassist), Gail-Ann Dorsey  (Lenny Kravitz's guitarist) and Flemming Lauritsen on drums, (
old school drummer with a sound quite like Band of Gypsys). After recording in New York, which lasted five days, as usual, I wrote 5 more songs in Paris, with the musicians that are usually with me on tour, and Matthieu Chedid who played guitar on "It Hurts" & the "Real Love" ".

That's it! The album was completed. And the photos by Rene & Radka, with "dreamy" shots of Ayo in the water, came to balance the vitality, strength and aggression coming from the lyrics, the voice, the energy of the musicians and especially the sound.
