Annie Clark is behind the enigmatic name on the cover of the new album Strange Mercy released on September 13. This is her third solo album, while in the past has worked with Polyphonic spree and Sufjan Stevens'.

The album Strange Mercy approaches from different angles the audience without leaving escape routes. As an indie album it combines many elements. First, the 'sweet' voice of Clark enchants from the first verse, and contrasts with the heavy distortion of the guitar. With a different arrangement that would not have so many dance or pop-rock elements, I believe several pieces would feel like something from the area of musicals.

For Clark the composition of the new album was not a period of anguish and toil. On the contrary music was the impetus to overcome the difficulties encountered in personal and family life. As she told NPR, 'This record kind of re-focused me. Life can be challenging and sad ... but music is the easy part'. 'I think I'd rather leave a little room for people to put themselves in it'.
