On 24 February, Paul Weller received the honorary title "Godlike Genius" at the Shockwaves NME Awards 2010 live and he played some new songs from the album 'Wake Up The Nation' to be released April 12.
Of course it's not the highest honor that Modfather has ever accepted. Paul Weller has marked the music scene ever since Jam wedged into the Punk movement! He is also considered a pioneer in the movement of Mods, while the continuity of his career shows that he is one of the most influential artists!
Although he had not thought the release of a new album since he had no new material, what prompted him was the title of the album. Typically, he says that he first thought of the title "Wake Up The Nation" and based on the title he started to create songs.
This is the tenth personal album by Modfather and most remarkable is that he's working with Bruce Foxton (bassist of The Jam).
28 years after the dissolution of Jam, Bruce and Paul wrote and played together 2 songs. Another important contribution is that of Kevin Shields (My Bloody Valentine) who plays guitar. Finally on drums is involved the legendary session drummer Clem Cattini.
