Rob Trujillo, bassist of Metallica, says the group has "too many great ideas for new songs". Indeed, heavy words ...

He revealed that Metallica have already begun writing their next studio album, but release date seems to be still far away. Talking to 3 NEWS in New Zealand after their appearance on CBS Canterbury Arena (Christchurch) on 21/9/2010, Rob Trujillo says: "All the "Death Magnetic" was written during the "St. Anger Tour", in a room like this, on the road and that is what we do on this tour. I do not mean that we gather and say "Good. Ready? Let's write.. " We jam and suddenly we have a nice sound and, whoa!, there's a nice riff. There is an atmosphere, a vibe. »

« We have a lot of material. We do not dare to enter the process of looking in detail, because it will start the incredible unfolding of it.
Thus, we find the best riff and start with this. »
« We want to reach up to a point of relaxation after the tour and then start writing. »

« In every album we want to write the best songs we can. And this is the link between all the albums. Every record can sound very different to the fans, who do not see what we are up to from 2010 to 2015 or so until needed. And no, I'm not saying that the album will be released in 2015! »

« Five years is a long time since the last to next album and we are among tour and creation. Many things have happened in our lives and we just want to do our best. We do not know yet what the producer or anything like that. »
« One thing I can say is that ... it's incredible! Because when we enter a phase of jamming in our little headquarters in California, where everyone catch all their instruments, and then we start having fun. It's like being a teenager again and the magic still exists. Many bands reach a point in their careers, when they have almost lost the incentive to create and they even come to hiring writers and composers. This is totally absent in our band. Sometimes we have very good material, which is a blessing and good luck. It is very exciting for us. I feel - at least myself - that "Death Magnetic" is a transition to what we can do and what we do. »

«At least to me, the songs have already begun to sound good. This fella (referred to Hetfield ) is connecting his guitar, turns on the  sound and has a crazy riff. It is that easy for him». - Hetfield: « It's not coming from me, man. It gets its power from elsewhere. I'm just the messenger who brings the metal message».
