Flow Festival will take place again next summer as a celebration of cutting-edge music, quality food and engaging arts. The festival will be held August 12–14, 2016 in the old Suvilahti factory area in Helsinki and is set to feature over 100 artists performing on various stages.

The first acts include the French electro-pop giant M83, currently preparing a new album, and British Jamie xx, who in recent years has become one of the most praised acts in electronic music. One of Flow’s most requested artists, the Scottish electro-pop act Chvrches joins the festival lineup for a first gig in Finland, which is also the case for US punk band Descendents and the garage rockers Thee Oh Sees from San Francisco.

Club music enthusiasts get a double whammy with NYC disco collective Hercules & Love Affair providing a danceable take on clubbing, while Kieran Hebden’s solo project Four Tet delivers a more experimental take. Included in the first batch of acts are also Ata Kak, the Ghana-based master of the highlife music style, who rose from a total unknown to a cult figure recently, and one of the brightest names in grime in 2016, UK-based Stormzy.

Flow announces yet another addition to its lineup with the Australian singer and songwriter Sia confirming that she will perform live at the 2016 festival. The announcement means that Sia makes a return to the live circuit after a hiatus that lasted several years. Flow Festival is the first to confirm Sia’s return to live stages.

Since Sia became well-known as an artist, she has performed live only a few times on television, and even then her face has not been seen. Sia is known for taking a stand, and her decision to remain unseen is criticism to the fact that female artists are expected to market and represent their music with their faces and bodies.

Sia’s long-expected new album This Is Acting will be released January 29th. It is already her sixth studio album with the best-known releases including 2011’s We Are Born and 2014’s 1000 Forms of Fear, which also included the hit Chandelier. The mysterious artist is one of the most renowned songwriters working in pop today, having penned hits for the, among others, Rihanna, Katy Perry and Beyoncé.
