  Taming the demons

"One by one we die" sings Robinson, " One by one we see love in the world" shortly after, trying as he does indeed throughout the Second Chants, to exorcise his demons to tame the depression, blaming the world, often finding a temporary, redemptive way as in the psychedelic Smile On Your Face .

Robert Robinson comes from Connecticut and is the man behind the name Sore Eros. He seems to balance between genius independent, that does not fit in known forms of discography and generally music, and on the other hand, the classic lo-fi lazy musician, and Second Chants is the first normal release and then only on vinyl, after some unfinished work but quite a few entries in the Haunted Graffiti and the "great" Ariel Pink. Tempting, certainly lo-fi, and confident both amateur, carefully unmade, deliberately experimental and incomplete, is wavering between moments of rudimentary shoegaze and an ethereal, seems to be on the verge of disintegration and decline, but skillfully avoided the trap of sophistication and pretend.

We are choking ...

The feeling that accrues when you hear the Second Chants is bittersweet, at times the atmosphere that hangs in the room listening to the disc is suffocating, almost suffocating, headed by the strange wind, audio distortion, the almost hypnotic whispers and vocals, the gloomy guitars, like the wonderfully mangled In My Heart and The Dream Self to hear them, are moments when you think you will drown, but some other times revealed a sweet emotional introspection, a redemptive stunning stretches at and nails, such as Whisper Me this sunny, exquisite melody.

  Autumn melancholy

The Second Chants is a whole wonderful, essential, brings a strange bliss and songs seem to end early, almost dream-like parade, I would say roughly, without method, sound layers float on the brink of total collapse, but ultimately always stand upright. If The Apples in Stere  and The Kingsbury Manx is high on taste and you want to drive a company that makes the melancholy-like all - autumn, the Second Chants is the perfect choice.
