Δυστυχώς, μετά τη μεταμόσχευση ήπατος, στην οποία υποβλήθηκε τον περασμένο Μάη, δεν ήταν εύκολα τα πράγματα για το θρύλο της ροκ μουσικής, τον κιθαρίστα και τραγουδιστή των Velvet Underground, το Lou Reed. Μετά την επέμβαση, ο Reed είχε πεί τα εξής: "I am a triumph of modern medicine, physics and chemistry. I am bigger and stronger than stronger than ever." Κι όμως δεν τα κατάφερε... Ξεκίνησε το ταξίδι για να ξαναβρεί τη Nico.
Στα 71 του, ο άνθρωπος που για περίπου 50 χρόνια (από το 1964 μέχρι και σήμερα) επηρέασε χιλιάδες μουσικούς, άφησε την τελευταία του πνοή. Ακόμη, δεν έχουν εξακριβωθεί τα άιτια του θανάτου του. Σύμφωνα με εκπρόσωπο της οικογένειας, μέσα στη μέρα θα υπάρξει σχετική δήλωση που θα εξηγεί τα αίτια του θανάτου του Reed.
Στις 1:30 μμ, στο Facebook και το Twitter του Lou Reed ανέβηκε η παραπάνω φωτογραφία και ο τίτλος της: "The Door".
