Χωρίς celebrities, χωρίς τη λάμψη των τελευταίων χρόνων και ουσιαστικά σαν ένα prive γεγονός λόγω της έξαρσης της πανδημίας, πραγματοποιήθηκε η απονομή των βραβείων για τις Χρυσές Σφαίρες 2022 την Κυριακή το βράδυ.
Θριαμβευτής των φετινών βραβείων ήταν το "The Power Of The Dog", το western drama που έκανε πρόσφατα πρεμιέρα στο Netflix. Η ταινία απέσπασε συνολικά 3 Χρυσές Σφαίρες, στις κατηγορίες της καλύτερης ταινίας, της καλύτερης σκηνοθεσίας και του καλύτερου δεύτερου ανδρικού ρόλου, με νικητή τον Kodi Smit-McPhee.
Ο Benedict Cumberbatch, πρωταγωνιστής στο "The Power Of The Dog", έχασε τη Χρυσή Σφαίρα πρώτου ανδρικού ρόλου από τον Will Smith ("King Richard"), ενώ το θεωρητικά μεγάλο φαβορί το "Dune", κέρδισε μόνο το βραβείο για τη μουσική της ταινίας, το οποίο και κέρδισε ο Hans Zimmer. Η Nicole Kidman απέσπασε Χρυσή Σφαίρα καλύτερου πρώτου γυναικείου ρόλου για την ερμηνεία της στο "Being The Ricardos".
Όσον αφορά τις τηλεοπτικές σειρές, το HBO ήταν ο μεγάλος νικητής με το "Succession" να αποσπά Χρυσή Σφαίρα καλύτερης τηλεοπτικής σειράς, και το "Hacks" να κερδίζει στη δική του κατηγορία. Στον αντίποδα, το Netflix κέρδισε ένα βραβείο, συγκεκριμένα αυτό του δεύτερου ανδρικού ρόλου για το "Squid Game".
